The Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri will welcome new and returning Club members when school begins at its Club sites this month.

Since 1960, the Club has offered area children a safe, stable place to go after school. Each day includes an hour of homework help, a healthy snack and hands-on enriched learning programs that build on concepts taught during the day.

“Summer always seems to fly by and I know some of our members aren’t excited it’s over, but Club staff have been looking forward to the start of school and getting back to helping kids,” said Director of Operations Stoney Hays.

The Club is located in all five of Sedalia’s elementary schools, as well as schools in Cole Camp, Green Ridge, La Monte, Leeton and Smithton. Each are located right in the school and are available to students in kindergarten and up.

Those interested in attending the Club must pay a yearly $10 membership fee and $5 or $20 for the week for programming. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify.

New this year, the Club will keep its downtown facility at 314 S. Washington Ave., open year-round with The CLUB. Exclusively for Sedalia students in fifth grade and up, The CLUB will feature new programs including a FIRST LEGO League and STEM Girls! Program, designed to get girls interested in the STEM fields.

“There are going to be a lot of new and different opportunities for The CLUB members,” Hays said. “Everything from sports activities, to new programs, to entrepreneur opportunities through a Torch Club or Keystone Club store. We really wanted to make The CLUB a place that our older members want to go.”

Those interested in attending The CLUB must pay a yearly $10 membership fee and $2 per day for programming. Specific information about transportation to The CLUB can be found on the Club’s website, bgckids.com or by calling 66-826-8331.
