A morning filled with storms didn’t stop more than 120 area runners and walkers from helping to raise more than $12,000 for local children at the Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri’s Hero Run, presented by McCarthy Toyota of Sedalia.

Members from The CLUB pose in their best superhero outfits before the race.

The 5K, which took place on the campus of State Fair Community College, was held Saturday as a fundraiser for BGCWCM and the more than 1,700 children it serves each year.

“Despite the weather not cooperating toward the end of the race, everyone had a great time and are truly heroes for all their help raising funds for Boys & Girls Club,” said Special Events Director Andrea Mason. “Thanks especially to all our volunteers who helped cheer on the runners and our local heroes, including the Sedalia police and fire departments, Pettis County Ambulance District, Sheriff’s Office, and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.”

The overall men’s winner was Coty Little, with an unofficial time of 21:27 and the overall women’s winner was Erin Grass, with an unofficial time of 24:24. Photos from the event can be seen here.
