The school year may be winding down, but Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri is gearing up for Summer Program, a 10-week long learning program designed to keep children’s minds active and busy.
“We’re really looking forward to a summer filled with fun,” said Director of Operations Tyler Hudson. “Boys & Girls Club staff are working hard to plan activities throughout the summer with a focus on learning.”
Summer Program will feature robotics and coding programs, construction, cooking and gardening, arts, field trips and other fun and interesting programs. Members will also have the chance to go swimming once a week at Centennial Pool. There are no wait lists for Summer Program but Boys & Girls Club staff are encouraging parents to sign their child up soon to make sure all applications are approved before the start of the program.
As in years past, Summer Program will be divided into two age groups – those just finishing kindergarten through fourth grade who will be at the Skyline Elementary Site, and those in fifth grade and up.
“The members at The CLUB will spend the first week of Summer Program at the Smith-Cotton Junior High School FEMA building before moving to First Baptist Church for the rest of the summer,” Hudson said.
The Elementary Summer Program will be from 6:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., June 4 – August 11 at Skyline Elementary. Cost is $10 per day and includes lunch and snack. The CLUB (middle school and up) will be from 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m., June 4 – August 11 at First Baptist Church. Cost is $5 per day and includes lunch and snack. Entrance to the church will be on the north, Sixth Street side.
