Three Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri members were named Youth of the Year during a special ceremony held Thursday.

Cole Camp Site member Jake Rogers, The CLUB Site member Alexa Rice, and Horace Mann Site member Jenesis May were chosen by a panel of judges for this honor, which is awarded every year to three deserving Club kids.

Judges w Teen“Youth of the Year is always a wonderful event but there was an especially impressive group of candidates this year,” said Director of Operations Tyler Hudson. “I was honored to have the opportunity to introduce each of them and allow them to tell their incredible stories.”

Each Club site nominated YOY candidates in elementary, intermediate and teen categories to compete for the honor. These Club members truly represent what it means to be a “Club kid” and spoke about how the Club has affected and changed their life.

As the teen winner, Rogers will now go on to compete at the state Youth of the Year competition, to be held in April in Jefferson City.

Hudson thanked the judges – State Fair Community College President Dr. Joanna Anderson, Economic Development Sedalia-Pettis County Executive Director Linda Christle, Pettis County Commissioner David Dick, Gardner Denver Director of Operations Paul Dick, and Pettis County Clerk Nick La Strada – for their time and hard work of narrowing the 16 candidates to three winners.

“I would also like to thank Boys & Girls Club staff for their excellent job preparing the candidates, and the Boys & Girls Club communities we serve for their ongoing support of the Club,” he added.
