The Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri is gearing up for a fun-filled summer of learning. Once again the Club will offer its 10-week Summer Program, running June 3 to August 12 at Skyline Elementary and the Club’s downtown facility.

“For many working parents, the question of what their kids will do during the summer is on their minds this time of year,” said Communications Coordinator Emily Jarrett. “The Club offers a great solution for working families who many not otherwise have child care and for parents who want to ensure their children’s summer isn’t wasted in front of the TV.”

The Summer Program will be divided into four age groups: Kinder Camp for members just completing kindergarten; Elementary Camp for members finishing first through fourth grade; Tween Club for fifth and sixth graders and Teen Club for members age 13-years-old and up. The Kinder Camp and Elementary Club will be located at Skyline, while the Tweens and Teens will be at the downtown facility, 314 S. Washington Ave.

“While our teen members have always been downtown, this will be the first year for the tweens,” Jarrett said. “We wanted to give our older Club members a space that was completely their own. Tweens and teens will still take part in different programs geared toward their age group, but in a shared space that allows for a little more freedom.”

At Skyline Elementary, Kinder Camp members will go through themed weekly activities while Elementary Camp members will be able to choose from a variety of programs designed to keep the learning going all summer.

“Summer is always a fun time at the Boys & Girls Club, and we’d like to especially thank all the staff at Skyline Elementary for allowing us to use their facilities this year,” Jarrett added. “We have a lot of new and exciting things planned this year and we’re looking forward to seeing new and returning faces in just a few weeks.”

The cost for Summer Program is $10 a day for members up to age 12, for members 13-years-old and older, the cost is $2 a day. Financial assistance is available for those who qualify. For more information, call the Club at 826-8331 or go to the Summer Program page.
