The Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri will host an open house for its Summer Program, June 2.

The open house is designed to invite families and members of the Club to the two Summer Program locations – Skyline Elementary and the downtown facility at 314 S. Washington Ave. – to meet staff and get a preview of all the fun activities that children will take part in.

“This is the first time we’ve had an open house for summer,” said Director of Operations Stoney Hays. “It’s really a way for us to be a little more organized and prepared on the first day. A lot of information has to be collected from parents for safety reasons and for payment processing, so we thought this was a great way to do a couple of things at once.”

Hays said Club staff will talk about program schedules and orientate parents to the summer syllabus. He added that new Club members – children who did not attend a Club site during the school year – should to bring shot records with them.

“The 2014 Summer Program averaged 250 kids a day and we’re expecting to see those numbers again this year, if not a little higher,” Hays said. “We’re looking forward to seeing all the new and returning faces and starting the summer in a fun, educational way.”

The Open House will take place from 5 to 7 p.m., June 2. For members just completing kindergarten through fourth grade, the program will take place at Skyline Elementary. For those in fifth grade and up the program will be at “The Club” downtown, 314 S. Washington Ave.
