Thanks to a little luck and a lot of “madness,” eight area residents have been named winners in the Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri’s March Mayhem tournament challenges.

The Club kicked off its Mayhem fundraiser with a traditional bracket challenge, hosted on CBSsports.com, that encouraged people to purchase a bracket to fill out with the teams they thought would make it to the championship. Winners included Steve Lemler, first place; Patrick Burnett, second place; Megan Webb, third place; and Kim Weymuth, fourth place.

The Club also hosted a special Mayhem event March 17 at Fitter’s 5th Street Pub in downtown Sedalia where NCAA tournament teams were auctioned off to the highest bidder. Winners were Karson Weymuth, who picked Duke to win; Ethan Richardson, who chose Wisconsin; Barry Guier, who selected Kentucky; and Matt LaCasse who took Michigan State.

All eight winners will have their pick of great prizes including Kansas City Royals tickets, Sedalia Bombers gear and gift cards to local restaurants.

“We had a great time hosting March Madness and hope everyone enjoyed participating in this fun event,” said Fundraising Coordinator Meghan Jeffreys. “I would like to especially thank Kyle and Kelsey Weymuth, with W-K Chevrolet, for being our emcees the night of our event and to Fitters for hosting us.

“We’re looking forward to bringing this event back next year. Our new March Mayhem partnership with Country Distributing promises to make this even more fun in 2016.”
