GLOGO

The Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri is hoping area businesses and residents will once again “glow their support” by sponsoring and participating in the second annual 5K Glow Run/Walk, presented by Starline.

Last year’s inaugural event was a huge success, with more than 420 racers and walkers participating and nearly $13,000 raised for Club operations. Staff are hoping this year will be even bigger and have special surprises planned, including special glow gear that will be available to those who register for the event by May 15.

“This is a great way for a local business or individual to get involved with the Club,” said Communications Coordinator Emily Jarrett. “We have a variety of sponsorship levels available, each with its own perks for the participating business, so there’s something for everyone.”

For those interested in participating in the race, the event will be family-friendly, with all age groups and skill levels invited to participate. The Club will offer a special kids area again this year, allowing parents to drop their children off for glow-in-the-dark fun while they take part in the 5K.

“Thanks to a wonderful partnership with SFCC, we’ll be adding something new this year,” Jarrett said. “The Club will take $500 of Glow Run proceeds, which SFCC will match, to offer a $1,000 scholarship to next year’s Youth of the Year teen winner. We’ve never been able to offer something like this before so we’re very excited to make this announcement and thankful to SFCC for allowing this to happen.”

The Glow Run will take place on the State Fair Community College campus June 12. For more information, including race specifics and sponsorship information, call Meghan Jeffreys at 660-826-8331 or go here.
