The Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri raised more than $165,000 at the 25th annual An Evening of Heart & Hope presented by W-K Chevrolet. The total is a new record for the auction gala, which is the Club’s biggest fundraiser of the year and makes up about 7.5 percent of its annual budget.

Held at the Sedalia Country Club, this year’s auction featured live and silent auctions, games and raffles. The event also included guest speaker Kevin Lockett, a former Kansas City Chiefs player and current CFO and COO for KBA, who spoke about how his start in football started at a local Boys & Girls Club.

In addition to raising money for general operating expenses, approximately $47,000 was raised directly for the SAY Yes Scholarship Fund, which provides financial assistance for families who may not be able to afford the Club’s $5 daily programming fees.

“We are so excited that our new venue and new ideas for our 25th year celebration were such a success,” said Director of Development Melissa Boeschen. “We are very thankful to everyone who attended and helped make this our best auction yet.
