Character & Leadership
As part of our mission to ensure that our members become caring and productive citizens, the Club offers several programs that focus on leadership skills and service to the community.
Torch Club is a Boys & Girls Clubs of America chartered small-group leadership and service club for youth ages 11 to 13. The program is a powerful vehicle through which Youth Development Professionals can help meet the special needs of younger adolescents at a critical stage in their development. Torch Club members learn to work together to plan and implement activities in four areas: service to Club and community, education, health and fitness and social recreation.
Youth for Unity
The Youth for Unity Program is a diversity education program designed to unite members in the fight against prejudice, bigotry and discrimination.
Family Service Learning
Club and community-related service projects for the entire family, this program may include making and delivering cards to the local senior center, collecting items for the animal shelter or taking part in a local park clean-up project.
Youth of the Month
Each Club Site recognizes one or more (depending on ages served) Youth of the Month for showing good character and outstanding leadership.
Youth of the Year
This youth recognition/competition names three overall winners in the elementary, junior and teen categories. Being named Youth of the Year is the highest honor a Boys & Girls Club member can receive.
