Academic Success Programs

Boys & Girls Club uses the Project Learn method, an evidence and researched based afterschool learning strategy designed to build and reinforce academic skills. Project Learn features five components: homework help and tutoring, high-yield activities, school day collaboration, parental involvement and student incentives/recognition. Activities are intentionally designed to provide students will learning experiences that are hands-on, interactive and linked to reading, math and science skills.

Power Hour helps Club members achieve academic success by providing homework help, tutoring and high-yield learning activities and encouraging members to become self-directed learners.

STEM program focusing on creativity, designing and building challenges with lessons on engineering skills, transportation, gadgets/technology and aerospace. Makerspace is for elementary members while Design The Future is geared toward tweens and teens.

A computer literacy program that encourages members to learn and master computer skills needed to be successful in a rapidly digitalized world. Focus areas include digital literacy including online safety, digital presence, gaming and reliable sources of information; media making and graphic design; and computer science topics such as word-processing and how computers work. Older members will also learn about 3D printing techniques.

Story Wizards is a literacy-based program focusing on developing competence in reading comprehension, analysis of words, application of the writing process, developing text and more.

DIY STEM is hands-on, targeted approach that provides an introduction to inquiry-based STEM activities, allowing youth to explore or build projects based on their own observations. Skills include inquiry, observation and analysis, flexible thinking and critical thinking.

Ultimate Journey engages older youth in fun, experimental, environmental education, cultivating awareness and appreciation for the natural world. Skills include inquiry, planning and carrying out investigations, observation and analysis.

Visual art program that fosters creativity and imagination while supporting the development of self-expression and creative thinking skills.

Path To Success includes workforce development activities, including college and career exploration, financial literacy, and academic eSports.
