Character and Leadership Development Programs

Character development is the process of learning a set of shared attitudes, beliefs, and behaviors that hep people live and work together as families, friends, neighbors, communities and countries. By learning and adopting a set of core ethical values, young people build a foundation of strong character that tey can draw on throughout their lives, and one that will enable them to thrive, success and make positive contributions to the world around them.

The Character Counts framework includes: respect, fairness, trustworthiness, responsibility, caring and citizenship.

The Keystone Club is a teen-led leadership and service program. Teens conduct activities in three areas: academic success, career exploration and community service.

Torch Clubs are chartered, small-group leadership and service clubs. Torch members learn to elect officers and work together to implement activities in four areas: service to Club and community, education, health and fitness, and social recreation.

Youth of the Month provides opportunities for young people to showcase their leadership ability and be recognized among their peers.

Youth of the Year is a targeted program that provides a strong foundation of leadership in three areas: self-leadership, leadership with others, and leadership in the community.

Youth For Unity features dynamic experiences that help youth better understand diversity and combat prejudice, bigotry and discrimination. Activities support youth to appreciate themselves as unique and special individuals, understand our society’s diversity, recognize bias and unfairness, and take personal leadership in confronting bias.
