Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri recently received a generous $50,000 donation from Shane and Phillip Smith, of Bothwell Peak Sport and Spine. The donation will help fund programs at BGC’s six outlying Club Sites, specifically programs designed to increase academic success, improve healthy lifestyles and introduce members to the dangers of drugs and alcohol, particularly opioids.
“We are thankful to Shane and Phillip for this generous donation,” said Executive Director Gary Beckman. “Through our Neighborhood Assistance Program, which offers 70% tax credits for business owners, we are able to reap the rewards of local supporters investing right here in the communities they live in and serve.”
“The partnership with Bothwell Peak Sport and Spine not only has allowed us to expand through multiple counties, building therapy sites in underserved areas, but also allowed us the ability to give back to our hometown and other communities served by Boys & Girls Club,” said Shane Smith. “We see first-hand all the great work the staff do for local children and we believe Boys & Girls Club is a blessing for our area, adding so much enrichment for so many of our youth. I’m thankful to be part of giving them a small token of appreciation for the work they do every day.”
“Our parents taught us first-hand how to give; they were a big part of our community and organizations when we were growing up,” said Peak Sport and Spine CEO Phillip Smith. “I’ll always remember the Optimist Club and selling Christmas trees with my dad, my mom serving food at church functions, how everyone was always welcomed in our home and them teaching us to take care of others whenever we could. Shane and I are blessed to be partnered with Bothwell Peak Sport and Spine because it’s allowed us to give back to communities that gave us so much as kids.”
Shane and Phillip Smith graduated from Marshall High School and work with Bothwell Peak Sport and Spine throughout central Missouri to provide outpatient therapy services, including clinics in Sedalia, Marshall, Warsaw, Versailles, Eldon and Boonville.
