The Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri’s Board of Directors has been named a 2018 League of EAGLES silver award winner, by Boys & Girls Clubs of America.

The prestigious award measures six key elements of a strong board of directors: EAGLES or Engagement and attendance at board meetings, Asking others face-to-face for funding, Giving back by making a personal financial gift, Leading the organization to achieve strategic plans, Evaluating their individual board performance and Serving actively on various board committees.

“It is a tremendous honor to be recognized for the hard work of our dedicated board members,” said Executive Director Gary Beckman. “The board recommitted themselves to making a deeper, more meaningful impact for our members and this recognition is a testament to their steadfast and unwavering passion to ensure great futures for our young people.”

According to Boys & Girls Clubs of America, less than 15 percent of Clubs nationwide achieve a League of EAGLES award.

“This award is the result of the passion our board members have for making a difference in all of our members’ lives,” said Board President-Elect Barry Henderson. “We have committed ourselves to making an effort to be the best board we can be, to ensure the Club is the best it can be. We are also truly blessed to have some of the most compassionate and caring employees; they are the ones who make our board shine.”

Henderson will accept the League of EAGLES award on behalf of the board during the Boys & Girls Clubs of America Midwest Leadership Conference in October.
