It was a night of celebration as Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri named Stacey Sanders and Hanna Schirlls as full and part time Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri employees of the year. The two were honored during the annual staff and board celebration, held September 15. The celebration brought together BGC staff and the Board of Directors to reflect on the past year’s accomplishments.

“It’s always a great time to get together with family and friends to review the past year and celebrate our success stories, the accomplishments and the hard work and commitment of our board and staff as we work to change lives,” said Executive Director Gary Beckman. “The evening celebrated those who make a difference today, with tomorrow on their minds.”

Sanders is the Site Director at Smithton and Schirlls is currently the Site Director at the Skyline Site but was honored for her work as Site Assistant at the Parkview Site and during Summer Program. Both were noted for their willingness to go above and beyond to further the Club’s mission.

Sanders, her nomination form noted, took on extra duties and pursued professional development this year, including becoming a certified CPR trainer for the organization. Director of Operations Tyler Hudson noted Sanders is, “very passionate about the Club’s mission and doing whatever it takes to provide the best possible Club experience for members at the Smithton Site. She is a natural leader and takes every opportunity to better herself; our organization is lucky to have her.”

Shirlls, who grew up in the Club as a member, “can always be counted on to help, to make sure something gets done in an organized and thoughtful way,” her nomination form noted. “She is great with the Club members, knows everyone’s name and has really gone above and beyond.”

“I am so proud to watch Hanna’s accomplishments,” Hudson added. “When I first started at the Club she was a member and to watch her grow into a wonderful employee has been an honor to watch. I look forward to seeing more great things come in her new role as Skyline Site Director.”
