The Boys & Girls Clubs of West Central Missouri’s Bold Vision, Bright Future Campaign received a boost in funding this month through a Missouri state budget allocation. The $1 million allocation will go to the construction of a 30,000-square-foot Teen Center to be located on Third Street across from the Katy Depot. The allocation was secured thanks to Rep. Brad Pollitt and Sen. Sandy Crawford, along with local community members, working together to advocate for the project and the community.

“We are very excited to receive this funding from the state of Missouri,” said Campaign Co-Chair RJ Lindstrom. “We are also very appreciative of all the effort Rep. Brad Pollitt and Sen. Sandy Crawford put in to ensure the Teen Center will have a positive impact on our Sedalia community.”

The Teen Center, slated to open in Fall 2026, will provide afterschool and summer enrichment for junior high and high school students and includes a workshop/lab, program areas, full commercial kitchen, art and music rooms, a full-size gym and more. The BGC Capital Campaign Committee has been working nearly two years to plan and raise funds for the project.

“I know the Governor had some tough decisions to make associated with his line-item budget cuts. I appreciate his long-term vision by keeping the funding for the Teen Center,” Pollitt said. “This is an important project and I am happy the state was able to contribute.”

“I was pleased to support and advocate for the Boys & Girls Club Teen Center funds in the FY 2025 state budget,” said Sen. Sandy Crawford. “The community has done a spectacular job of raising local funds as well. This project will be a great asset to Pettis County.”
